UNICEF predicts that today, the first day of the English New Year, three lakh 71 thousand children will be born worldwide and 60 thousand children will be born in India.
The first child of the new year will be born in Fiji and the last child will be born in the United States on the first day of the new year.
More than half of all babies born today are born in 10 countries, including India.
Today, 59,995 babies will be born in India, 35,615 in China and 14,000 in Pakistan.
UNICEF estimates that a total of 140 million babies will be born this year, with an average life expectancy of 84 years.
