The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in a few places in the Nilgiris in the next 24 hours due to the southwest monsoon.
A few places in Coimbatore and Theni districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains. Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Vellore, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Puduvai Karaikal will receive light to moderate rains.
Over the next 48 hours, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in a few places in the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts and a few places in Theni district.
Light to moderate rain in the interior. Light showers are likely in Chennai and some parts of the suburbs during the next 48 hours.
