Zero academic year? consults with the Chief Minister, Minister Senkottayan said

Zero academic year? Talk to the Chief Minister and decide ..!

Minister Senkottayan said that the decision to declare this year as a zero academic year will be taken in consultation with the Chief Minister as the schools are not functioning.

Minister of Education Senkottayan inaugurated the construction of Paver Block site, drainage facility and concrete floor in Karapadi and Polavapalayam panchayats under Gobichettipalayam assembly constituency in Erode district.

He also donated free goats to 120 beneficiaries and started a mother clinic in Savakattupalayam. He later told reporters that a decision would be taken in consultation with the Chief Minister to declare this year as a zero academic year as schools are not open.

Due to the corona environment, no schools have been opened in Tamil Nadu so far this academic year. It is doubtful whether schools will reopen this school year as the mutated malignant corona virus is spreading overseas. Educators believe that if schools are not open, transferring students to the next class without reaching the learning directories for the respective classes will affect the quality of education.

Accordingly, the complete abandonment of this academic year is called the zero academic year. If declared as zero academic year, students who studied in the first class in the last 2019-2020 academic year will not be considered to have studied any class in this year. They will go to the second class in the next 2021 - 2022 academic year.

Similarly, there will be a situation where the number of students in the first class alone will be more than double the number of students who will be included in the first class this academic year and those who will be included in the first class in the next academic year. But the Tamil Nadu government has not yet taken any decision regarding the zero academic year.
