Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has teamed up with the Medical Research Council of India to develop the Kovac vaccine.
The vaccine, developed jointly by Oxford University in the UK and Astra Geneca Pharmaceuticals, was developed by Pune-based serum company Covshield.
Coronavaccine drive starts today in Tamilnadu

In Tamil Nadu alone, corona vaccination is being given to 4 lakh 80 thousand people in 166 centers.

The first phase is to vaccinate government and private hospital doctors, nurses, medical staff and non-medical staff. For this 5 lakh 36 thousand 500 doses of Govshield vaccines came to Chennai.
Similarly, covaxin vaccines have been introduced in 20,000 doses.
As a first step, the health workers who have booked the names will come and vaccinate at their discretion. Not to be put on pregnant women and boys.
Pregnant women and children should not be vaccinated against corona. Only those over 18 years of age will be vaccinated. Vaccines are given for free.
So far 4 lakh 39 thousand 500 people have booked to be vaccinated in Tamil Nadu. The next step is to vaccinate those who are in first-level work in the community and those who are interested in policing. Vaccination is the only way to prevent disease. Vaccinated people must adhere to safety measures, including social isolation.
Vaccines are given 2 times a day for free at 28-day intervals. Only one company will be vaccinated twice. No other company will be vaccinated. These missions take place only 4 days a week.
