The relaxations are not applicable to Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai, where Covid-19 cases are still high.

Only essential services are permitted in the 11 most affected districts.

The entire curfew ends on the 14th. Can the curfew be extended after that? Or can it be withdrawn? Chief Minister MK Stalin held consultations with top officials on the issue. Authorities then recommended extending the curfew with additional relaxations.


After examining the situation in Tamil Nadu and the recommendations made by the authorities, Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a one-week extension of the curfew in Tamil Nadu with further relaxations.


Additional relaxations have been announced for only 27 districts. Customers are ordered to have their body temperature checked at the entrance of the store. 

Permission is granted for admissions to schools, colleges and universities.
