Online classes for 10th, 11th, 12th classes after Pongal? Government Review
Chennai High Court has directed the school education department to conduct online classes for 10th, 11th and 12th class students
The Chennai High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to refrain from conducting live classes for 10th, 11th and 12th class students and to conduct classes online as the third wave of the Corona Virus is on the rise.
In a petition filed in the Chennai High Court by Nellai Abdul Wahabuddin, he said, “In Tamil Nadu, 10th, 11th and 12th class students should be barred from direct classes in schools and classes should be conducted online only.
Schools were completely closed during the first and second waves of the Corona, and classes were conducted online.
In an environment where the third wave of the corona is currently spreading most intensely, classes are only conducted online for students in grades 1 through 9. But direct classes are held only for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Thus those students are at risk of being easily infected with corona.
Therefore, in view of this, all schools, such as CBSE, Matriculation, and schools operating under the state curriculum, should be banned from direct classes and ordered to conduct classes online only. ”
The case came up for hearing before a bench comprising Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bandari and Justice Adikesavalu. Attorney General R. Shanmugasundar, who was appearing for the government at the time, said kindergarten classes and direct classes from 1 to 9 were not allowed.
At the same time, students in grades 10 to 12 are invited to the school to receive their first Covid-19 vaccination.
The government has already issued an order making it mandatory to conduct more direct classes and to attend those classes. The Tamil Nadu government has also decided that schools can decide on conducting online classes. He also said that attending live classes is subject to the discretion of the students.
The judges then advised the Tamil Nadu government to conduct classes online instead of conducting direct classes for 10th, 11th and 12th class students as the third wave was on the rise. This will ensure the safety of all teachers, students and staff.
Following this, the school education department has consulted on conducting online classes again for 10th, 11th and 12th classes. With schools set to reopen on the 19th after the Pongal holiday, an announcement is likely to be made soon in view of the corona spread.
